Puri, Mar 5: The Chief Administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple has sought explanations from three servitors over allegations of delay in temple rituals, misconduct with on-duty officials, and disorderly behaviour on February 28.

According to reports, Ramakrishna Khuntia, who was serving as a substitute for another Palia Khuntia servitor, allegedly caused unnecessary delay in performing the prescribed rituals and behaved inappropriately with temple staff and officials. Madhab Khuntia and Madhusudan Khuntia have also been accused of creating obstacles in the conduct of temple services and displaying unruly conduct.

All three servitors have been directed to submit their written explanations within seven days. A separate notice has also been issued to Ramakrishna Khuntia asking him to clarify why the “Saree Bandha” order issued against him should not be withdrawn.

Chief Administrator Aravind Padhee said that during this year’s Dola Purnima and other festivals, temple rituals have largely been conducted smoothly with the cooperation of most servitors. However, he termed the alleged behaviour of a few servitors as unacceptable.

He further warned that strict action will be taken under the temple’s governing laws against any disorderly conduct, while expressing gratitude to servitors who continue to maintain discipline and coordination in performing the Lord’s rituals.
