Khordha, Aug 14: In an unfortunate incident, a woman was trampled to death by an elephant in the Banapur locality of Odisha’s Khordha district this morning.
The deceased has been identified as Ranjana Pradhan (35).
As per reports, Ranjana had gone to a nearby canal to attend nature’s call early this morning when the pachyderm trampled her. As a result, she sustained grave injuries.
Reportedly, the jumbo had strayed into the village in search of food.
On learning about the incident, villagers rushed to the spot and chased the elephant away. They rescued Ranjana and rushed to the Banapur Community Health Center, where the doctors declared her dead.
On being informed, police arrived at the village and launched a probe into the matter.
