Rourkela, Dec 3: An elephant trapped in a slurry pond, was rescued in Sundargarh on Sunday.
The incident came to the fore when the locals spotted a tusker stuck in a muddy mass near Sana Damkuda Bhadrapada village under the Sundargarh Sadar Forest Range in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Saturday night.
On being informed, the pachyderm was rescued with the help of a JCB crane by the forest officials in the morning after a tiring operation. Subsequently, the tusker was allowed safe passage into its habitat in the nearby jungle.
