Rourkela, Oct 15: Carcass of a tusker was recovered near Oraghat village in the Koira forest range in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Sunday.
The tusker is suspected to have died last evening whereas the precise reason for its death is yet to be ascertained, said the forest officials, after the inquest.
Sources said the local informed the range officials after a carcass of the elephant was spotted near their village. On being informed, a team of forest officials reached Paramsahi of Oraghat village and conducted a post-mortem of the carcass with the help of the veterinarians.
Worth mentioning here that another carcass of a tusker was found in the Oraghat area a few days ago. So far, four elephants have reportedly died in the Koira forest range in the last few years.
