Puri, July 21: In a tragic incident, a 70-year-old servitor of a temple lost his life after accidentally falling into a well in Town Police Station area of Odisha’s Puri early Monday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Jhadu Panda, a servitor of the Jameswar Mahadev Temple in Goudabada.

According to sources, Panda was drawing water from the well around 5:15 AM as part of his daily temple duties when he reportedly slipped and fell.

After hearing his cries, local residents rushed to the scene, but were unable to save him in time.

Upon getting the information, police arrived at the spot and seized the body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.

A case of unnatural death has been registered and further investigation into the matter is underway, said the police.
