Sambalpur, Feb 27: In a gruesome incident, an elderly man was allegedly thrashed to death by his son in Sadar area of Odisha’s Sambalpur district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Lingaraj Kumura and the accused his son Amulya, a resident of Ghenupali village.
As per reports, a heated exchange of words ensued between Lingaraj and his son Amulya over some issue. It later took a violent turn when Amulya lost his temper and started thrashing his father. Thereafter, Lingaraj collapsed following which the accused fled from the spot.
Some of their arrived at the spot hearing the screams and rushed Lingaraj to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.
Upon getting the information, police reached the spot and seized the body for post-mortem.
The exact cause of death will be ascertained after the postmortem report arrives. Further investigation into the matter is underway, said the police.
