Dhenkanal, March 2: In a tragic incident in Odisha’s Dhenkanal, an elderly man was crushed to death by an elephant on Sunday.
The incident took place in the Koriapal village under the Kamakshyanagar block today.
The deceased has been identified as Bidyadhar Dehury (62).
According to report, Dehury was going to the village pond for a bath. Meanwhile, he encountered a jumbo that attacked him getting near the trunk. As a result, he sustained grievous injuries and fell unconscious on the spot.
On being informed, he was rushed to the Kamakshyanagar hospital for resuscitation. However, he was no more at the time of treatment.
Forest range officials took stock of the matter and assured exgratia to the deceased’s family.
