Bhubaneswar, November 14:Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday evening celebrated the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) thumping victory in the Nuapada by-election at the party office in Bhubaneswar.

Majhi expressed his admiration for the clear mandate given by the people of Nuapada, emphasizing that the victory was a direct endorsement of the BJP’s development-focused agenda. He thanked the electorate for rejecting opposition misinformation and empty promises.

“Nuapada has spoken, and their decision to support the BJP is a decisive mandate for progress and development,” Majhi stated. “The people have shown their trust in our vision for a prosperous future.”

Majhi also congratulated the newly elected MLA, Jay Dholakia, for securing a substantial victory. He extended his gratitude to the BJP’s state president, Manmohan Samal, as well as to the party’s ministers, MPs, MLA and party workers for their unified efforts in securing the win. "Under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, development is at the forefront of our national agenda. Our government is fully committed to advancing the welfare of the people and fostering the growth of Odisha,” Majhi added.

The Chief Minister reassured the people of Nuapada that their development remains a top priority. "We are committed to the progress of Nuapada and to making it an integral part of Odisha’s growth story,” he said.

The victory of Jay Dholakia marked a significant political shift in the region, with the BJP snatching the seat from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD). The seat was previously held by BJD’s Rajendra Dholakia, who had been the MLA for the area.

Majhi described the result as a reflection of the growing public faith in the BJP’s leadership and development policies, stating that this win marked a pivotal moment in Odisha’s political landscape.

The Nuapada by-election, held after the BJP formed its government in Odisha in June 2024, was seen as a key test of the party's standing in the state. The outcome carried immense significance for the party, which considered the victory a symbol of the people’s confidence in its governance.

Celebrations was organised at the BJP party office, where BJP leaders, including Odisha BJP President Manmohan Samal, joined Majhi in marking the victory.

Newly elected MLA Jay Dholakia also led a victory roadshow in Khariar Road, further energizing the party’s supporters.
