Berhampur, May 29: A seven-member team from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted a raid early this morning at the residence of businessman Manoranjan Panda, located on the main road in Bhabinipur, Berhampur.
Sources revealed that the ED team arrived at the location around 7 a.m. and carried out extensive searches. During the operation, officials reportedly recovered a substantial amount of cash and several crucial documents. However, the ED has not released any official statement to the media regarding the ongoing investigation.
Manoranjan Panda, a prominent businessman in the region, is a resident of Belguntha. His wife is employed in a bank. Panda was previously associated with finance companies before relocating to Berhampur, where he began operating a money lending and pawn broking business. He is also said to be active in the cement trade.
The ED is currently investigating multiple properties believed to be owned by Panda in and around Berhampur, including several plots and residential buildings. Officials are probing his financial connections and assessing the scale of his assets. Reports also suggest that his wife has been questioned as part of the inquiry.
The scope of the investigation includes identifying the number of business ventures under Panda’s name and verifying the ownership of properties across different locations. While one ED team continues operations in Berhampur, another is simultaneously conducting raids at Panda’s residence in Belguntha.
