Bhubaneswar, July 24: According to Economic Survey report -2023-24, the life expectancy rate in Odisha has increased to 70.3 years for the period 2016-20, up from 60.4 years in 2000-04. Despite this progress, Odisha still lags behind seven other major states in India.
In Female Literacy, there has been notable progress in female literacy, with the rate increasing from 50.5% in 2001 to 73.6% in 2022-23. However, this is still below the national average of 80.3%.
In Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER), the GER for girls is currently better than that of boys at upper primary, secondary, and higher secondary levels.
In Institutional Births, Odisha has a high rate of institutional births at 92.2%, compared to the national average of 88.6%.
In Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR), Odisha is 119 per lakh live births, which is higher than the national average of 97 per lakh live births.
These statistics show both progress and areas where further improvements are needed to enhance the quality of life and longevity in the state.
