New Delhi, Aug 17: Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said the Election Commission of India is working to make the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar a “huge success.” He stressed that the process is transparent, with all stakeholders—including political parties, voters, and booth-level officers—actively involved.
Responding to opposition criticism, Kumar said over 1.6 lakh Booth Level Agents have prepared the draft voter list, and more than 28,000 claims and objections have been received. He added that verified documents and testimonials from political representatives are often ignored at higher levels, creating “unnecessary confusion.”
The EC reiterated that errors in voter lists should be raised during the “Claims and Objections” period, the stage meant for corrections. It said that both digital and physical copies of electoral rolls are shared with political parties to ensure accountability and transparency.
