New Delhi, August 6: The people of New Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) with a few parts of Jammu & Kashmir were panicked by an earthquake at late night on Saturday.
As per reports, the tremor was felt in border areas of Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab at about 9.30 pm. Its intensity measured 5.8 on the Richter scale, according to National Centre for Seismology (NCS).
Following the tremor, people in some areas of New Delhi were found rushing out of their homes in panic.
The NCS stated that the epicenter of the earthquake was in the Hindukush Mountain Range region of Afghanistan. It is located around 420 km from Gulmarg of Jammu and Kashmir.
However, any damage to properties has not been reported.
