Tokyo, July 22: An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.8 struck the Japanese prefecture of Ibaraki, just northeast of Tokyo, on Monday, according to the country's weather agency.
The tremor occurred at 10:07 a.m. local time, registering 3 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7, the Japan Meteorological Agency reported.
The earthquake's epicentre was located off northern Ibaraki prefecture at a depth of 90 km, positioned at a latitude of 36.8 degrees north and a longitude of 140.8 degrees east, according to Xinhua news agency.
