Kandhamal, July 16: A youth allegedly thrashed his octogenarian father to death following a heated argument in Raikia locality of Odisha’s Kandhamal district today.
The deceased has been identified as Hadia Pradhan.
As per reports, a heated exchange of words ensued between Hadia and his son, identified as Rukesh Pradhan, over some issues when the later returned home in a inebriated condition.
Later, it took a violent turn when Rukesh, in a fit of rage, attacked Hadia with an iron rod. The octogenarian sustained grave injuries in the attack and died on the spot.
Upong getting the information from villagers, police arrived at the spot and seized the body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.
The cops also detained the accused son for questioning in this connection.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
