Berhampur, Oct 13: Police on Friday arrested the driver of the woman social activist, who was brutally killed at her residence in Nilakanthanagar under Gosani Nuagaon police limits of the district.
The accused driver who has been identified as Simanchal has confessed his crime before police. He was earlier detained in connection with the case.
Notably, Simanchal had attacked Soudamini from behind while she was alone at home and talking over a mobile phone with someone. Tragically, after continuous attack, she succumbed on the spot. The person who was on the other side of the phone rushed to her house after hearing the screaming and found Soudamini in a pool of blood.
Soudamini had been a dedicated activist for children's welfare, actively involved with various non-governmental organizations. Her noble endeavors extended to aiding children affected by AIDS, leaving a significant impact on the community she served.
Further investigation in this regard is underway.
