Mumbai, Sept 24: In a shocking incident, a NEET topper & a genius in Maharashtra reportedly ended himself over being denied to study Medical abroad.

The NEET Rank holder, identified as Anurag Anil Borkar from Nawargaon (19-year) committed suicide a few hours to his admission in MBBS in a government Medical College in India.

The tragic incident took place at the Nawargaon village in  Maharashtra on Wednesday.

According to reports Anurag had secured a top rank in the National Medical Entrance Exam. He had clinched all India rank 1475 for which he was offered admission in a number of government and Private Colleges free of cost. However, the ignited mind was keen to study medical abroad, especially in a repute medical college in a developed nation including USA, California and Canada.

On the other hand, his parents were passionate to see their son graduate from a state Medical University in India. Meanwhile, his admission was finalized in a University in UP(India) and he was asked to pack up his luggage A pall of gloom cast over the kid’s village in Chandrapur district today while his body was recovered from his living room today by the local Police.

According to some media reports, Anurag was scheduled to travel to Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh to begin his MBBS studies. His family was preparing for his departure when the tragic incident came to fore.

Police confirmed that the young student was found hanging at his family home. The tragedy unfolded before he could embark on his journey to higher education.

A suicide note was recovered from the scene by investigating officers. While the full contents have not been officially released, police sources provided chilling details on the incident citing extreme stress in the kids mind.

The note allegedly stated that Anurag did not want to become a doctor. This revelation has added a layer of profound sorrow to the incident, highlighting a potential gulf between external achievement and internal desire.

The Navargaon Police have registered a case and are conducting a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. The recovery of the note is a central part of their enquiries.

Anurag, who lived with his family in Sindewahi taluka, was described as a bright student whose future seemed assured. His near-perfect NEET score had positioned him for a coveted seat in a medical college, a goal pursued by thousands of aspirants across India.

As the investigation continues, the family and community are left to grapple with the loss of a promising young life.

Worth mentioning, Anurag had achieved an exceptional 99.99 percentile in the NEET UG 2025 examination. His outstanding performance earned him an All India Rank of 1475 in the highly competitive OBC category.
