Bangalore, August 20: An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of the Defence Research Development Organization (DRDO) crashed during its test flight.
The UAV--TAPAS-- fell outside Vaddikere village in Hiriyur Taluk under the Chitradurga district in Karnataka on Sunday.
Videos and images featured after the mishap revealed that the TAPAS experimental UAV broke following the crash and its equipment inside was scattered on the field as it hit an agricultural land violently.
"TAPAS UAV was undergoing an experimental flight trial today morning from ATR Challakere, Karnataka. During the flight, a technical snag was encountered and the UAV crashed in a nearby farmland. The technical reason is being investigated and there is no collateral damage," DRDO issued a statement.
A large number of villagers gathered at the spot soon after the scientific drone crashed with a loud noise.
