Bhubaneswar, Aug 8: In a horrific incident, two youths were allegedly stabbed to death following a dispute reportedly over vehicle parking in Bhubaneswar last night.
The deceased persons have been identified as Rashmiranjan Sethi alias Jitu and Julu Sethi and the incident has been reported from Ayarpada area under Airfield police limits in the district.
Police have arrested four people, including the main accused, Ganesh Mallik, and his wife, while five others are still absconding.
As per reports, an altercation ensued between the two groups over vehicle parking at an apartment complex in the Ayarpada area. The victims were residents of the apartment complex, and the attackers were from a neighboring complex. It later took a violent turn after the accused persons attacked Rashmiranjan and Julu with sharp-edged weapons.
Sources said that the conflict began few days back when Rashmiranjan parked his car in front of the Kalyani plaza, sparking a heated exchange with Ganesh, the maintenance person at the plaza. The argument had been brewing for days, ever since Rashmiranjan had parked in the same spot two days prior.
The situation escalated last evening when Rashmiranjan again parked his car in the same spot and Ganesh demanded to move his car from the place. Thereafter, Rashmiranjan refused to do so following which Ganesh physically attacked him.
Rashmiranjan retaliated to the attack and the conflict intensified when Ganesh called his friend Pradeep, who arrived with several accomplices. They chased Rashmiranjan and brutally assaulted him, stabbing him in the chest.
Two bystanders, Julu and another friend, attempted to intervene but were also stabbed by Ganesh and Pradeep. Later, the assailants fled from the spot.
Thereafter, some locals rushed the severely injured persons to a nearby hospital where Rashmiranjan was pronounced dead on arrival, and Julu succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The third victim is currently undergoing treatment in critical condition.
Upon getting the information, police along with DCP Prateek Singh arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation.
