Rayagada, Nov 5: In a tragic incident, a five-year-old boy was killed and his parents sustained critical injuries after an unidentified vehicle hit the motorcycle they were travelling on in Muniguda area of Odisha’s Rayagada district today.

The deceased child has been identified as Tapas Sagadia (5), son of Jadu Sagadia and Savitri Sagadia of Daliakuji village.

As per reports, the mishap took place near the Ramakrishna Mission in Hatmuniguda under Muniguda police limits in the district when the family was returning home from a hospital in Bisam Cuttack.

The collision was so severe that Tapas died on the spot and his parents sustained critical injuries. Locals immediately jumped to their rescue and rushed the injured couple to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, Muniguda police, upon getting the information, reached the spot and seized the vehicle debris. The cops also seized the child’s body and sent it for post-mortem.

A probe has been launched into the matter and efforts are on to trace the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run incident, said the police.
