Bhubaneswar, June 24: Healthcare facilities have been disrupted in the orthopaedic department of PGIMER and Capital Hospital here following long leave of doctors.
The head of the orthopaedic department Prof (Dr) Rabi Narayan Dhar is on a long leave for the last two months. It has disrupted major surgeries as junior doctors are struggling to take decision in critical cases and referring critical patients to other hospitals.
The orthopaedic department of PGIMER is running with only three doctors with the help of Capital Hospital. However, the Post Graduate students of the institute are suffering the most in study due to absence of professors.
According to reports, over 400 patients visit the OPD of orthopaedic department of PGIMER and Capital Hospital. Besides, scores of admitted patients undergo treatment in the IPD beds.
The long leave of the HoD and frequent absence of other doctors have disrupted the study of PG students and major surgeries in the premium healthcare centre of Odisha capital.
