Bhubaneswar: B-Town arch lights are on full glare at Ajay Devgn. The Singham Again box office collections in week number two remained strong. The net collections didn’t drop to single digit at any point of time. Moreover, the film is very likely to cross the 200cr psychological mark on Sunday.
The Gangajal-IPS star recently in a podcast with Youtuber Ranveer Allahabadia opened up greatly to reflect more on the evolution of Ajay Devgn – from teen ager to super cop star.
Taking a flashback of his teenage days, the intense actor had a candid conversation on his teenage time. Speaking up plainly, Ajay Devgn said,” though drinking is bad, I had rather an early start.”
When prodded on to reveal the exact age, Ajay said, “Fifteen”. In the podcast show, the superstar revealed that he started taking drinks at an early age of 15 years. The Drishyam star disclosed that he hit the vodka (with alcohol content of 30-40%) bottles first.
“I started with Vodka but switched over to malt drink,” said Ajay and added that I have now turned a sparsely drinker.
NEW HEROS ARE BOYS
Bollywood’s finest action star Ajay Devgn made a big remark during the conversation, he said, “In today’s world, you don’t see the dominating male personality. All are boys; you don’t see ‘men-men’. In the earlier generation, we saw men—even in my generation, from Jackie Shroff to Amitabh Bachchan were all men.”
Pitching in to support Ajay’s contention, Rohit Shetty, who has also joined the podcast conversation with Ajay Devgn, cited the instances of Akshay Kumar thrashing ten people or Sunny Deaol pulling out a hand pump. And, Rohit said, the wonder fact is it looked real and audiences would clap because it was believable that they could do it.
The Golmaal -5 star attributed the ‘boy-ish’ evolution of Gen Z missing out on real life experiences. He attributed the big reason for missing-out the real life experiences to the domination of electronic gadgets and mobile phones.
Reflecting more on his point of why he would consider the current generation of actors as “boys,” the Singham actor stated, “There’s been a change in upbringing, and you don’t become a man just by building a body. There’s an attitude and approach toward life that’s missing.”
NO FUN, WORKHOLIC
When prodded to talk about the state of mind post the super success of Singham Again, both childhood friends – Rohit and Ajay – said we never get super excited by any sort of success. For us, we just move on. Our life is all about work, and whenever we meet our discussion hovered around our works – films.
Our discussion about Singham Again is not about how much the movie has grossed, rather, how has been the response of cine watchers.
Rohit Shetty revealed that we took 1-and-half year to complete the Singham Again project. Our next venture will be on silverscreen in next 1- year or so, he added.
Despite making a franchise of cop universe, Shetty said Singham 1 is my favourite film among the all Copverse movies.
“Yes, concept wise, Singham 1 is my favourite, but when the grander show is looked upon, the new versions of Copverse certainly feel better,” Shetty added.
NO MORE ACTION FILMS
The action-thriller showman Rohit Shetty is in no mood to repeat an action thriller movie project for some more years. During the conversation, Shetty revealed, audience needs some break. We will be making Golmaaal 5 –a light comedy film. The demand for Golmaal-type movie has also been humungous, Shetty revealed.
CALMER AJAY, FIGHTER HEART
Ajay Devgn looks very calm at the outset, a very introverted personality. But Rohit revealed Ajay was fighter at heart in his college days. He used to fight with lot at many times, with soda bottles flying on either side.
Shedding light on some funny memories from the past, Rohit Shetty revealed, “There’ve been times I can’t tell you details, we got a call that he (Ajay) has gone to beat up someone and there was a car behind him, a chase is going on in Mumbai city to stop him.”
Nodding the revelation with a sly smile, Devgn ducked the conversation stating that he wouldn’t want to discuss it now. When asked if the actor has ever used any weapon, Shetty revealed – “Hockey sticks.”
In conversation, Ajay stated that he doesn’t fight anymore, and has become calm like anybody. “It is all waste of time, and he avoids fights feeling sorry for the person thinking that he would get hit eventually,” Ajay opined.
