New Delhi, December 30: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep concern over reports of an attack on Russian President Vladimir Putin's residence in the Novgorod Region, allegedly by Ukraine. The incident occurred amid ongoing peace talks between the two nations. In a post on X, PM Modi urged all parties to focus on diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict and avoid actions that could derail peace negotiations.

PM Modi's remarks followed Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's announcement that Ukraine launched a drone strike on Putin's residence on December 29, using 91 UAVs. According to TASS, the drones were intercepted, and there were no casualties or damage. Lavrov warned of a Russian retaliation but emphasized that Moscow would not abandon the peace talks.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected Russia's claims, calling them "fabrications" aimed at undermining peace efforts. He accused Russia of using such falsehoods to justify further attacks and block progress towards ending the war. Zelenskyy reaffirmed Ukraine’s commitment to diplomacy, despite the ongoing conflict.

The incident comes after US President Donald Trump met with Zelenskyy in Florida to continue peace discussions.
