New Delhi, February 12: The Delhi Police Special Cell has interrogated officials from Penguin India for two consecutive days in connection with the alleged leak of former Army Chief General MM Naravane's book, according to sources. The questioning, which spanned several hours, focused on the handling and distribution of the manuscript and its digital files.

Sources indicated that Penguin India representatives may be called in for further questioning as the investigation continues.

The inquiry is being conducted along two main lines of investigation. The first centers on the unauthorized PDF version of the book that surfaced prior to its official release. Investigators discovered that the field for the printer’s name in the PDF file was left blank, raising suspicions that the manuscript may have been leaked before being sent for printing. Authorities are seeking detailed information from Penguin India about the movement of the PDF file, including who had access to it and whether it was shared online or offline. Penguin India has requested time to gather the relevant information, as the publication process had been ongoing for nearly three years.

The second line of investigation concerns a hard copy of the book that was displayed by the Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, in Parliament. Claims have also surfaced that the book was available internationally and online. The Special Cell is now examining the origin and distribution of this hard copy as part of its ongoing probe.

Sources say that the Special Cell is carefully reviewing the information provided by Penguin India. Investigators are working to determine whether the alleged leak was due to negligence in handling the manuscript or if it was part of a broader conspiracy. Further actions will be determined based on the progress of the investigation.
