The internet is abuzz that India’s run machine Virat Kohli reportedly charged Rs 5 crore to visit Premanand Maharaj’s Ashram in Vrindavan. However, the reports, as suspected have turned out to be just rumours spread online.
Putting all speculations to rest, the former India captain rejected claims that he was paid Rs 5 crore to visit the spiritual leader Premanand Maharaj’s ashram. The allegation had surfaced on social media and quickly triggered speculation about Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma’s association with the spiritual leader.
Completely False, Baseless
Kohli’s spokesperson issued a strong clarification, calling the claim ‘completely false, baseless and factually incorrect’. The statement further said that Kohli’s visits to Premanand Maharaj are motivated by his personal faith and reverence, rather than any financial arrangement. The spokesperson also urged the media to verify claims before reporting or amplifying them.
How Rs 5 Crore Claim Surfaced
The controversy began after Dinesh Sharma, popularly known as Falahari Maharaj and President of the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Sangharsh Nyas, alleged that Rs 5 crore had been spent to facilitate Kohli’s first visit to the ashram.
He reportedly linked the alleged payment to efforts to increase Premanand Maharaj’s popularity. However, no publicly available payment record, contract or other documentary evidence has emerged to substantiate the allegation.
Kohli and Anushka first visited Premanand Maharaj in Vrindavan in January 2023 and have returned to the ashram several times since. Their visits have been publicly documented, including occasions when the couple sought the spiritual leader’s blessings.
