Bhubaneswar, July 7: Following reports of a sporadic diarrhoea outbreak in Digapahandi block, a rapid response team from Ganjam district, along with a mobile health unit, was dispatched to Ustapalli village to begin immediate field operations and provide treatment to affected individuals.
The teams distributed medicines, ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) packets, and halazone tablets. In addition, intensive public awareness campaigns were launched to educate residents on preventive measures.
Villagers were advised to boil and cool their drinking water to ensure its safety. Water and stool samples were collected for laboratory testing to identify the cause of the outbreak.
This morning, Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, Aswathy S., reviewed the situation and instructed officials to intensify awareness and prevention efforts across the surrounding areas. Acting on her directives, a second state-level team was deployed to support the response efforts in Ustapalli.
The newly deputed team includes Dr. Surjit Garabadu from the State Rapid Response Team and Dr. Kollala Das, Consultant for the National Programme on Climate Change and Human Health, as well as the National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme. The team will assess the on-ground situation, coordinate closely with district teams, and oversee ongoing containment and treatment activities.
Officials have reported that the situation is now under control. Residents are urged to remain calm and follow the health advisories issued by medical personnel.
