Dhenkanal, Aug 5: In a pioneering step toward digital transformation, the Dhenkanal Postal Division in Odisha has launched Advanced Postal Technology (APT) 2.0, offering customers real-time tracking of their parcels and mail via SMS updates.
The service, the first of its kind in the state, is now operational in 55 post offices, including two head post offices, and 462 branch post offices across Dhenkanal and Angul districts. With this system in place, customers can now monitor the progress of their mail from dispatch to delivery- a major upgrade from the traditional, opaque postal process.
“This service is designed to provide customers with a more efficient and transparent way to track their mail and parcels,” said Jambeswar Garanayak, Postal Superintendent of the Dhenkanal Division. “With real-time delivery updates, customers no longer feel lost in the system.”
APT 2.0 not only enhances tracking but also integrates with Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and other digital services, further boosting the efficiency of post office operations. Officials say the platform is part of the Postal Department’s broader Modernization Project 2.0, aligned with the Digital India Mission to bring government services closer to citizens through digital innovation.
The application features a user-friendly interface and ensures faster, secure delivery services, aiming to modernize both front-end customer experiences and back-end logistics.
The Dhenkanal Postal Division has a strong track record in embracing digital initiatives. In 2019, it set a state record by opening nearly 10,000 accounts under the India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) in Dhenkanal and Angul within a short period.
With APT 2.0, Odisha’s postal services are taking a significant leap toward transparency, reliability, and modern digital governance.
