Dhenkanal, Oct 27: The Dhenkanal town is decked up to welcome the Goddess of wealth and prosperity for Gajalaxmi Puja tomorrow.
All mandaps are decorated with huge gates and decorative lights for the 11-day festivities.
The 75 feet Adiyogi mandap of Ganesh Bazar is going to be the main attraction of this year’s celebration.
Similarly, Sri Sri Mahalaxmi Puja Pratishan of Kaibalya Bazar has made a mandap of 20 feet high at Rs 25 lakh. Besides, it has made Egypt Palace of 35 feet high and will spend Rs 12 lakh for light decoration.
The silver backdrop of the Godess is another attraction of the puja committee. The backdrop is made of 1.40 quintal silver and one kg gold.
This year the Godess will be worshiped at 38 mandaps in Dhenkanal.
The 11-day Gajalaxmi Puja in Dehnkanal starts from Kumara Purnima every year. People from all religions, castes, tribes participate in the celebration that has turned into a traditional grand yearly celebration.
Thousands of people from across the state come to Dhenkanal to enjoy the Laxmi Puja during this festive time. The history of Laxmi Puja at Dhenkanal is more than 50 years old.
