New Delhi, January 1: The Vande Bharat sleeper train, after successful trials and certification, will soon begin operations between Guwahati and Kolkata. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the first train, announced Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The Vande Bharat sleeper is designed for long-distance travel, offering a modern, comfortable, and fast experience. It features advanced safety, improved suspension, and world-class sleeper coaches, ideal for overnight journeys. The train's affordable fares start at ₹2,300 for the 3AC class, significantly lower than typical airfare.

By the end of the year, 12 Vande Bharat Sleeper trains will be operational, with rapid expansion planned for next year. The train's final high-speed trial, conducted on the Kota-Nagda section, achieved a top speed of 180 km/h, marking a significant achievement in India's self-reliant rail technology.
