Bhubaneswar celebrates World Photography Day with inspiring visual arts

World Photography Day celebrations brought vibrant visual storytelling to Bhubaneswar today. Hyderabad-based photographer Mothukuri Ramesh, widely known as MoRa, opened his solo exhibition at Dhauli College of Art and Craft. Located near the historically significant Dhauli Stupa, this campus regularly serves as a vibrant hub for Odisha's evolving creative community.

Celebrating Visual Arts in Bhubaneswar

Eminent local painters Sukdev Maharana and Gaurang Bariki attended the inaugural gathering alongside photographer Siddharth Dey and Pramod Pati Foundation President Shyam Sundar Mohapatra. These distinguished guests formally opened the gallery. They shared their thoughts on how such interactive gatherings effectively ignite fresh creativity among young scholars and practitioners. Seventy-two college students organized a parallel photography showcase to highlight their own unique artistic perspectives. Participants recognized this dual presentation as a powerful way to motivate emerging talents. They emphasized its capacity to promote the rich cultural heritage of Odisha to a wider audience.

Dr. Panchanan Samal, Principal of Dhauli College, greeted the attendees with formal introductions. Vice-principal Chandan Kumar Samal and several faculty members, including Professor Bhupati Bhushan Panda, managed the main program segments smoothly. Other key coordinators involved were Yanita Priyadarshini, Sarfuddin Ahmed, Sambit Kumar Sahu, and Lakshmidhar Swain. Student Srishti Patra opened the festivities by singing a beautiful welcome song for the gathered audience. Visual arts enthusiasts can visit and explore this engaging showcase until August 21, 2026.
