Bhubaneswar, Nov 27: The Winter Session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly commenced today. On the opening day, a condolence motion was moved by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in memory of departed members, including former MLAs Late Hemendra Prasad Mahapatra and Late Krushnachandra Mallik, as well as former Odisha Police constable Late Saroj Kumar Pradhan. The motion was supported by Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik, Congress Legislature Party leader Ramachandra Kadam, and CPI(M) MLA Laxman Munda.

The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, will address the Assembly today at 4:30 pm and will remain present from 4:20 pm to 5:30 pm. During her address, the President is expected to guide MLAs on their roles, duties, and responsibilities as legislators.

As a former member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly and ex-Transport Minister, President Murmu is likely to share insights and experiences from her tenure, offering special guidance to newly elected MLAs.

The Assembly has also arranged to commemorate her earlier contributions. The chamber used by the President during her tenure as MLA and Minister has been refurbished, with a special chair placed for her. She will sit there to interact with current and former MLAs during her visit.
