Balasore, Nov 1: The Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary in Balasore district reopened to tourists on Saturday, officially marking the start of the new tourist season after being closed for six months since June.

Subrat Kumar Behera, the Ranger-cum-Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF), confirmed the sanctuary's reopening in accordance with government guidelines. He shared that, like every year, the sanctuary is now open to visitors starting November 1. Tourists can explore popular spots within the sanctuary, including the Rissia Nature Camp, Rissia Dam, and nearby waterfalls. Additionally, they can view the deer that were translocated from Nandankanan Zoological Park, whose population has steadily increased over time.

The reopening ceremony, which took place at 8 a.m., was marked by a ribbon-cutting event led by the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO).

Due to limited staff, the sanctuary will maintain a single entry and exit point, allowing visitors to explore the area before returning.

The reopening has been met with excitement by nature lovers and local tourism operators, who are hopeful that the winter season will bring an influx of visitors to the sanctuary.
