New Delhi, January 14: On the 10th Defence Forces Veterans' Day, ex-servicemen rallies, wreath-laying ceremonies, and grievance redressal events were organized nationwide, with the main celebrations at Delhi's Manekshaw Centre. Over 2,500 veterans from Delhi-NCR attended the event, where Defence Minister Rajnath Singh honored their sacrifices and contributions.

Rajnath Singh praised veterans as symbols of courage and national pride, urging them to guide youth, support Agniveers, and promote social harmony. He emphasized that India's progress towards becoming a strong, self-reliant nation is bolstered by the experience and leadership of veterans.

He also recalled the valor of ex-servicemen in Operation Pawan, acknowledging their long-overdue recognition under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. The Defence Minister reiterated the government's commitment to veterans' welfare, including the implementation of One Rank One Pension (OROP) and expansion of healthcare facilities.

Highlighting the importance of self-reliance post-retirement, he mentioned skills training, employment opportunities, and support for veterans’ businesses. Rajnath Singh also underscored the government's focus on respecting fallen soldiers, with monuments like the National War Memorial serving as a constant reminder of their sacrifices.
