Kishorenagar, Nov 8: A remarkable step forward towards swachhata, under the Green Field Initiative Project supported by DMF and Kishorenagar Block, implemented by NIWCYD, was marked with the inauguration of a waste collection vehicle at Kishorenagar Block.

The vehicle was formally inaugurated by Subrat Kumar Behera (BDO, Kishorenagar) in the presence of the Block Chairperson, President Zilla Parishad Kishorenagar, DMF Expert, Sarpanchs, Ward Members, and Panchayat Officials.

Following the inauguration, an interactive session was held focusing on the functioning of the Faecal Sludge Treatment Plant (FSTP), ongoing waste collection activities, and the future roadmap for sustainable solid waste management in the block.

Local representatives expressed their appreciation and pledged continued efforts to make their Gram Panchayats cleaner and greener.

The NIWCYD team shared key progress updates saying, the waste collection system has now expanded to 50 villages, with 17 Gram Panchayats successfully operating tricycle-based waste collection units.

To date, over 23,500 kilograms of waste have been collected, out of which 3 tons have been segregated and reused, and market linkage processes have been initiated for recyclables.

This achievement marks another milestone in the journey towards a Zero Waste Kishorenagar, made possible through the collaborative efforts of NIWCYD, Block Administration, and DMF Angul.
