Bhubaneswar, Sept 30: The ongoing renovation and development work to turn Suando, the birthplace of Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das in Puri district, into a heritage village is in the final stage. Reviewing the project, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra on Thursday directed to complete all construction works by December 30. Mahapatra directed to keep an extra eye on the construction of the museum, renovation of the ancestral house of Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das and beautification of the village. The museum will showcase Das's books, a life dedicated to society, service to mankind, teaching in Bana Vidyalaya, and his role in the freedom movement. A 15-feet bronze statue of Utkalamani will also be installed in the village. The transformation plan was prepared by the Indian National Trust for Art Cultural Heritage (Intach) in consultation with the villagers.
