Jharsuguda, January 13: A major fire broke out at Jharsuguda railway station on Tuesday morning. No casualties were reported in the incident.

According to reports, the fire erupted around 11.30 AM at the Station Master’s chamber triggering panic in the area.

Thick black smoke billowing into the sky was visible from several metres away. Two fire tenders rushed to the spot and launched an intensive firefighting operation to prevent the blaze from spreading further.

Following the incident, train services at Jharsuguda station have been disrupted.

Officials said movement of trains along the Jharsuguda route has been suspended as part of safety measures.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and an investigation has been initiated.
