Usha Padhee leads approval of vital manufacturing units statewide

Vital decisions regarding industrial expansion took center stage at IDCO Towers recently. The Land Allotment Committee (LAC) has officially given the green light to 31 pending proposals, paving the way for freshindustrial projects in Odisha. This strategic move is designed to accelerate economic activity and generate massive job opportunities across the state.

Chaired by IDCO Chairperson Usha Padhee, the committee focused on clearing the backlog to ensure that investors can hit the ground running. By approving these allotments, the administration aims to instill confidence among business owners who have been waiting to set up their units.

Small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) grabbed the spotlight during this session. A large chunk of the approved land will support the MSME sector, alongside new ventures in textiles, apparel, food processing, and engineering. This diverse mix of industries ensures that the state’s economic growth is not reliant on just one sector.

Crucially, the committee placed a special emphasis on regional balance. Priority was given to establishing units in non-industrial zones. Districts like Koraput, Kalahandi, and Rayagada are set to benefit significantly from this decision. By pushing industry into these backward regions, the government is fulfilling its promise of inclusive development for all citizens.

Several high-ranking officials participated in this crucial meeting to ensure a transparent process. Attendees included D. Prasanth Kumar Reddy, the Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the MSME Department and Managing Director of IDCO, alongside IPICOL Managing Director Bhupendra Singh Poonia. Director of Industries Aboli Sunil Naravane and OCAC Executive Director Kaustuva Dipta Pany also contributed to the discussions.

Moving forward, the LAC has committed to maintaining this momentum. The committee reiterated its goal of time-bound decision-making and proactive support for investors. This approach is expected to unlock substantial capital and solidify Odisha's reputation as a preferred destination for business in Eastern India.
