Jajpur, Feb 14: In a brazen robbery that has shocked the local community, miscreants looted cash and jewelry worth lakhs from the home of a police officer in Jhalsukha, under the Dharmashala police limits of Jajpur district.

The robbery occurred at the residence of Bidyadhar Sethi, a police constable at the Jajpur Road police station, and his wife, a teacher at Haripur School. Both were at work and had locked their house when the crime took place.

Reports indicate that the thieves took advantage of the couple’s absence, making off with one lakh rupees in cash, along with 200 grams of gold and 200 grams of silver ornaments. The robbers reportedly scaled the wall of the property and broke the lock on the main door to gain entry.

The Dharmashala police have registered a case and are currently investigating the incident.
