Bhubaneswar, May 1: More than 150 individuals had a miraculous escape as the aircraft they were aboard encountered a hailstorm shortly after departing from Biju Patnaik International Airport this afternoon.
The Vistara flight UK-788 had to initiate an emergency landing only 10 minutes after takeoff due to being struck by hailstones and encountering thunderstorms.
Reportedly, The flight had departed from Bhubaneswar at around 1:45pm. However, a window sill of the aircraft sustained damage during the incident. With 169 passengers onboard, the flight successfully landed, and all passengers disembarked safely, said BPIA Director Prasanna Pradhan.
