The death toll from the partial collapse of a residential building in Nizhny Tagil, Russia, has risen to 10, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Nizhny Tagil, Aug 3: The death toll from the partial collapse of a residential building in Nizhny Tagil, Russia, has risen to 10, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The Ministry reported on Friday that rescuers have recovered 10 bodies and rescued 15 individuals from the rubble, with five of the survivors in critical condition and receiving hospital treatment.

In response to the tragedy, local authorities have declared August 3 as a day of mourning to honour the victims. Search and rescue operations are ongoing.

The incident occurred on Thursday when an explosion of a gas-air mixture caused two entrances of a five-storey gas-powered building to collapse. The building, located in Nizhny Tagil in Russia's Sverdlovsk Oblast, was severely damaged in the blast.
