Bhubaneswar, Oct 20: The East Coast Railway on Monday flagged off a new train that will join Daspala with shrine city Puri during the festivities.
The Daspalla-Puri-Daspalla, Diwali Special launched on public demand, began its service from the Daspalla station.
According to reports, the Diwali special train left the Daspalla Railway Station in Nayagarh at 11.30 hrs (11.30 AM) on Monday and reached Puri at about 15.00 hrs (3 PM).
In the return direction the train is scheduled to leave Puri Junction at 16.00 hrs (4 PM and will reach Daspalla at 19.30 hrs (7.30 PM) today.
The new Diwali Special train that began its services today will address the influx of commuters from remote Nayagarh, Boudh and Sonepur area to have darshan of Lord Jagannath in Puri during the holy month of Kartika.
The Daspalla-Puri special will clear the extra rush to Puri for Diwali, said a statement issued by the East Coast Railway.
