New Delhi, Oct 22: Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates is all set to make his Indian television debut with a special appearance in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2. The show's lead actor, Smriti Irani, confirmed the news, calling the moment "historic."

A recently released promo from the Star Plus show features Irani’s iconic character, Tulsi Virani, on a video call. She opens the conversation with her signature greeting, “Jai Shri Krishna,” which the caller warmly returns.

“It feels really nice that you are connecting with my family directly from America. We are waiting for you eagerly,” Tulsi says. The teaser then shifts to her addressing viewers directly: “You’re wondering who is going to connect with the Virani family directly from America. Please wait.”

According to a report by ETimes, Gates will appear via video call in a three-episode arc. His cameo is part of a storyline focused on maternal and newborn health — a cause that aligns with the work of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 has been gaining attention for weaving social themes into its narrative. From body positivity and generational conflicts to women’s empowerment, the show blends entertainment with purpose-driven storytelling — and Gates' appearance marks a major step in that direction.
