Warm days are coming with rising temperatures across Odisha

Residents across the state should prepare for warmer days ahead. Recent reports from the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar indicate a steady shift in our daily climatic conditions. Over the next forty-eight hours, both day and night temperatures are projected to climb gradually by two to three degrees Celsius. Once this initial warming period concludes, mercury levels are expected to stabilize without any significant fluctuations across all districts.

Current Temperature Highlights

Paralakhemundi recently recorded the highest daytime heat, sweltering at a noticeable 35.0°C. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Jharsuguda experienced the coolest plains temperature, dropping down to a brisk 11.9°C. Up in the higher altitudes, the hill station of G. Udayagiri saw the mercury fall to a rather chilly 8.0°C.

Looking at the twin cities, the capital city of Bhubaneswar reached a maximum heat of 33.6°C, while its minimum levels settled at a comfortable 20.0°C. Cuttack remained slightly cooler throughout the day, posting maximum and minimum readings of 31.4°C and 18.6°C respectively.

Forecast Predicts Continued Dry Spell

Citizens hoping for a refreshing rain shower will unfortunately have to wait much longer. Meteorological forecasts strongly suggest that entirely dry conditions will dominate the region for the upcoming seven days, remaining valid until the morning of March 6, 2026. Because of this stable, dry pattern, regional officials have officially issued zero warnings regarding severe weather events or storms for the entire week.

Morning Fog Disrupts Early Commutes

Early risers and morning travelers might still encounter some lingering visibility challenges. Shallow to moderate fog is highly likely to occur during the early morning hours, particularly affecting isolated pockets within Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara.

Just recently, dense fog heavily enveloped Bhubaneswar, drastically reducing visibility to a mere 100 meters. Paradip also experienced its own share of moderate fog. Commuters travelling through these specific coastal and central zones should exercise extra caution and use proper fog lights while driving before sunrise.
