Cuttack, Aug 25: After Bhubaneswar, Cuttack city is fast turning into a hotspot of dengue with the detection of 286 cases by Thursday.
As many as 14 dengue cases were detected yesterday in the city – four cases were reported from CDA Sector-10, two cases were detected in Bidanasi, and one each from Sector-6- 6, 9, and 11, Badambadi, Bakharabad, Makaraba Sahi and Bhubanpur localities.
Similarly, at least 16 cases were detected in the city on Wednesday.
Residents have blamed the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) for the surge in dengue cases.
The CMC has yet to initiate effective steps like intensifying bush cutting, clearing of waterlogging, fogging, and cleanliness activities to contain the spread of dengue despite the alarming situation in the capital city, Bhubaneswar.
“While 286 cases have been detected from areas within CMC’s jurisdiction, over 68 have been detected from rural parts taking the tally to 354 in the district,” CDM&PHO Makaranda Beura.
In Cuttack, dengue testing is being conducted at SCB Medical College and Hospital and City Hospital, added Beura.
