Imphal (Manipur) November 16: The Imphal West District administration has re-imposed a total curfew starting from 4:30 am today, following the escalation of law and order issues.

This decision overrides the earlier curfew relaxation order, which had allowed movement between 5:00 am and 8:00 pm on November 16, as per an earlier directive dated November 15.

District Magistrate Th. Kirankumar issued a fresh order on Saturday, stating, “Due to the developing law and order situation in the district, the curfew relaxation order stands cancelled with immediate effect. Total curfew is imposed with effect from 4:30 pm on November 16, 2024, until further orders.”

Exemptions have been granted for individuals engaged in essential services, including healthcare, electricity, public distribution, municipal services, and the media. Movement for flight passengers with valid Airport Entry Permits (AEP) and the functioning of courts will also remain unaffected by the restrictions.

The authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged residents to cooperate with the measures aimed at maintaining peace and order.
