Bhubaneswar, Dec 2: In a major boost to specialised healthcare under ABPMJAY-GJAY, the Odisha government today deliberated on inclusion of 73 new state-specific treatment packages across oncology, haematology and ophthalmology, raising the total number of treatment packages available to beneficiaries to 2,163.

This expansion aims to significantly enhance access to advanced, cashless medical care for patients across the state.

The decision was taken at an empowered committee meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja at Lokseva Bhawan. During the meeting, Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Aswathy S highlighted key issues, while Dr. Brundha D, CEO of the State Health Assurance Society, presented updated proposals for deliberation.

Emphasising the state’s commitment to patient-centric reforms, Chief Secretary Ahuja instructed officials to enforce stringent measures to curb suspicious claims, prevent non-compliance with MoU conditions by empanelled hospitals, and eliminate fraudulent practices. The committee also reviewed proposals for 121 additional oncology packages and a rate revision for 55 existing packages as recommended by the medico-expert committee.

Other key matters discussed included the phased rollout of ABPMJAY-GJAY across government health facilities, redesignation of 1,009 Swasthya Mitras as Pradhan Mantri Arogya Mitras (PMAMs), and offline settlement of claims for dependent children aged 6–18 whose details were not reflected during the transition from GJAY to the unified programme.

The committee further approved an interest-free revolving fund of ₹10 lakh for Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) to support cashless high-end diagnostic services for cancer patients.

Senior officials including Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Principal Secretary Finance Sanjeeb Mishra, Principal Secretary Electronics & IT Vishal Kumar Dev, and Principal Secretary Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Sanjay Kumar Singh participated in the deliberations. Members expressed confidence that the newly added treatment packages and complementary reforms will greatly strengthen healthcare delivery and elevate beneficiary satisfaction under the state’s universal health coverage initiative.
