Fresh styling, smarter tech, and competitive pricing for Indian buyers

JSW MG Motor India has officially introduced the updated 2026 iteration of its popular mid-size SUV, the Hector. This latest launch marks the third significant update for the vehicle since it first arrived on Indian shores nearly six years ago. With a competitive starting price tag of Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the 2026 MG Hector facelift aims to offer better value with a host of cosmetic and technological improvements.

While the overall shape of the SUV remains consistent with its predecessors, the exterior has received a sharper, more modern treatment. The most noticeable change is at the front, where MG has installed a new ‘Aura Hex’ grille. This features a unique hexagonal pattern that gives the car a bolder face. To complement this, the front and rear bumpers have been redesigned to look more muscular. The side profile now boasts new dual-tone ‘Aura Bolt’ alloy wheels, and buyers can choose from two new color options: Pearl White and Celadon Blue.

Stepping inside, the cabin experience has been refreshed to feel more premium. The 5-seater variants now come with a sleek Ice Grey and Black dual-tone theme, whereas the 6 and 7-seater Hector Plus models feature a warmer Urban Tan and Black finish. Comfort remains a priority, with popular features like ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and the Infinity by Harman audio system being carried over.

Technology enthusiasts will appreciate the significant improvements made to the infotainment unit. Although the massive 14-inch portrait screen stays the same size, the hardware behind it is much faster. It now supports ‘i-SWipe’ gesture controls, allowing drivers to adjust volume, brightness, or AC settings with simple two-finger or three-finger swipes, similar to using a smartphone.

Under the hood, the powertrain options remain familiar. At launch, the SUV is available with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that delivers 143bhp, paired with either a manual or CVT gearbox. Those waiting for the diesel variant will have to wait a little longer, as the 2.0-litre diesel engine is expected to join the lineup later in 2026.

With bookings now open across dealerships, the 2026 MG Hector facelift is set to renew its rivalry with competitors like the Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV700, and Hyundai Alcazar.
