Kendrapara, August 25: Panic has gripped Rajkanika in Odisha’s Kendrapara district after a man was allegedly dragged into the Kharasrota River by a crocodile. The incident reportedly took place in Gangadhar Prasad, a village in the island region of Rajkanika.

According to reports, Pareshwar Behera was on his way to a boat point to cross the river when a crocodile suddenly attacked and dragged him into the water. His whereabouts remain unknown.

A search and rescue operation is currently underway in the Kharasrota River to trace the missing man. Rescue personnel, along with local residents, are taking part in the operation.

On August 3, a 46-year-old woman was dragged into the Brahmani river by a crocodile while she was taking bath at Patna village under Pattamundai police station in Odisha's Kendrapara district.

The victim was identified as Suchitra Das and her body was fished out of the river by personnel of the Fire department.
