Kendrapada, Sept 16: In an unfortunate incident, an elderly man was dragged by a crocodile at Ichhapur village under Aul block in Odisha’s Kendrapada district on Monday.
The man has been identified as Ajambar Nayak.
The incident occurred while Ajambar was crossing a waterbody with his cattle. The crocodile suddenly appeared and dragged Nayak into the waterbody.
After getting information about the incident, the fire and forest department personnel reached the spot. However, despite a frantic search for quite long hours, the elderly man has not yet been traced out and is still missing.
It is pertinent to mention here that man-crocodile conflict is nothing new for the residents in the districts of Kendrapara, Jajpur, and Jagatsinghpur.
Worth noting, recently a crocodile entered at Gajrajpur villages under Rajnagar block in Kendrapara district of Odisha. Later, some people dared to take a fight and managed to tie up the reptile with ropes and informed the forest department.
Forest personnel reached the spot and rescued the crocodile. Crocodiles generally do not come on land. As the canal is full of water in the monsoon season, it has come out at night, said forest personnel.
