Bengaluru, Jan 5: Tensions have been high in Jagjeevan Ram Nagar, Bengaluru, since Saturday night, following a stone-pelting attack during a Hindu religious procession near the Panchamukhi Nagadevata temple. The incident, which resulted in injuries to two women, has triggered protests from local residents demanding justice.

According to a complaint filed with the police, three to four individuals allegedly threw stones at a chariot during the procession, injuring a young girl who suffered a head injury. She was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment. The attack has caused widespread outrage among the local community.

The incident occurred between 8:15 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, as a large group of devotees made their way towards the temple. The complainant, Shashikumar N., a resident of VS Garden, stated that this was not the first time such an event had occurred in the area, citing previous incidents during religious ceremonies.

In response to the attack, local police have registered an FIR and launched an investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible. Additional police forces have been deployed in the JJ Nagar area as a precautionary measure, anticipating potential retaliatory actions from the affected residents. Senior officers have also set up a temporary camp in the area to monitor the situation closely.

In a show of solidarity, devotees from the Om Shakti and Ayyappa Swamy groups have demanded strict legal action against the perpetrators of the stone-pelting incident.
