Crackdown on illegal liquor trade in Digapahandi town; several shops shut, four arrested

Digapahandi, June 3:A strict crackdown has been launched against the sale of intoxicants in Digapahandi town. Acting on the directive of the NAC Executive Officer, authorities have taken strong action to shut down country-made and foreign liquor shops operating along the main roads of the town.

A notification has been issued prohibiting the sale of alcohol and other intoxicating substances within a 500-metre radius of the New Bus Stand, Old Bus Stand, and Punjikayan Square. Following this order, police have shut down more than 20 illegal liquor outlets across the town.

Illegal liquor sales were reportedly taking place openly in areas such as Punjikayan Square, the New Bus Stand, and the Old Bus Stand locality. Raids were also conducted at paan shops, dhabas, hotels, snack shops, and ration stores suspected of involvement in illegal liquor trade.

A joint team comprising the NAC Executive Officer, enforcement squad, and Digapahandi police carried out sudden raids in various parts of the town. During the operation, a large quantity of country-made liquor pouches was seized, and four liquor sellers were arrested.
